To ensure academic achievement Mount St. Mary's Seminary offer san advanced technology infrastructure, writing specialists, student-to student tutoring, and a Learning Skills Department that can help identify and address learning challenges.

Learning Services

Learning Services offers programs designed to provide seminarians with the tools necessary to be successful in their coursework. Its mission is to promote a higher awareness of the skills, behaviors and attitudes necessary to achieve academic success. The seminary recognizes that students with disabilities are entitled to the reasonable accommodations and appropriate academic adjustments stated in Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Students with disabilities are encouraged to contact Learning Services. English as a Second Language

A full-range of ESL services are available, including classes and tutorials, and a state of the art language lab to aid ESL students in perfecting their oral communication skills and accent reduction.

The Writing Center

The university’s writing center assists seminarians at any performance level to develop skills in writing analytically and critically. The center offers tutorial instruction designed to meet both the immediate and long-term needs involved in various writing projects.

The Phillips Library

The Phillips Library contains more than 200,000 bound volumes and a rapidly expanding list of scholarly information databases that provide convenient access to e-books, journal articles and a variety of data sources. Included in our e-library are more than 10,000 professional and scholarly journal publications and a collection of 2,000 DVDs and VHS tapes (documentaries and popular movies) for students and faculty.
The library staff includes four faculty librarians who provide research assistance and information literacy instruction to individuals and groups. A faculty librarian with theological training maintains the theology collection of approximately 43,000 volumes. The main desk services, resource acquisitions, cataloging and interlibrary loans are provided by four highly competent, student/faculty-focused employees, with the help of several dedicated student assistants.
