Mount chaplains build, develop, and deepen the faith of the student athletes by meeting them “on the court,” building a relationship with each member of the team and challenging athletes to grow in their faith. The chaplains meet the needs of their teams through numerous activities such as Bible studies, service projects, weekly night prayer, time spent in adoration, team dinners, and other social gatherings.
As chaplains, we came away with the sense of how blessed the Mount is with such amazing student-athletes ... As much as they desire to succeed on the field, the court, the track, or in the pool, they also desire to deepen their relationships with God.
The presence of faith within the athletics department sets Mount St. Mary's apart. The direct connection of Mount St. Mary’s Seminary and University offers seminarians a rare oportunity to serve as a chaplain to one of the University's Division I sports or numerous club sports right on the same campus.
